Board of Regents (BOR) standing committees assist it in focusing and organizing its work around institutional issues and responsibilities that align with the BOR’s governance role. Committee charters delineate committee structure and responsibilities and help advance the productivity of the BOR.

Ad Hoc Committees

Ad hoc committees may be established by the Chair, from time to time, as the Chair may deem necessary or advisable to focus on specific matters or make recommendations to the Board for the handling of specific tasks or objectives in fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities of the Board. Ad hoc committees are advisory only.

Presidential Search Advisory Committee

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee will review, interview, and recommend the appointment of the remaining 21 members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee to the Board Chair; represent the institution during the search, as well as the interests of the Board of Regents and the campus community, to the candidates; utilize the Equity Impact Assessment tool to develop the search process and when recruiting presidential candidates; help to generate a strong and diverse pool of candidates through advertising and recruiting; screen the candidate pool and interview candidates; and make recommendations to the Board of Regents regarding presidential finalists.

Regents Onboarding Ad Hoc Committee

The Regent Onboarding Ad Hoc Committee is responsible for reviewing current onboarding processes and providing recommendations for revisions. The goal is to ensure that Regent onboarding meets all compliance and legal requirements while being welcoming and inclusive. 

Budget Ad Hoc Committee

The Budget Ad Hoc Committee is tasked with collaborating with WSU Finance and Administration staff to develop a robust process ensuring the Board’s readiness to approve the operating budget for FY 2025-26. This process will be thoroughly reviewed and endorsed by the Faculty Senate prior to Board consideration. All financial and budgetary decisions will use the Equity Impact Assessment Tool, ensuring transparency and engagement between WSU leadership and budget owners.
